Writing Mastering the Art of Race-Specific Training: Proven Strategies for Peak Performance in Road Cycling has been one of my career’s most rewarding and transformative experiences. What started as a way to share 25+ years of coaching evolved into a rewarding journey of reflection, research, and creation.
I took two months of unpaid leave as a senior physician to fully focus on writing the book. Taking a leap of faith, I dedicated my energy to creating a book that resonates with road cyclists.
The process required both discipline and passion. As I worked through each chapter, I focused on providing practical advice—whether on training, race strategies, or overcoming setbacks. During those two months, I had the opportunity to refine my ideas further, ensuring every page conveyed the valuable lessons I’ve learned.
I relied heavily on the support and wisdom of the cycling community throughout the process. Conversations with coached riders, feedback from trusted readers, and athlete testimonials added authenticity and depth to the book. Even in moments of doubt, their encouragement reminded me why I started: to empower road cyclists to achieve their best.
This book is the result of years of experience, refined strategies, and a deep commitment to helping others. Along the way, challenges arose, but they mirrored the dedication and resilience I aim to inspire in readers.
Mastering the Art of Race-Specific Training combines everything I’ve learned about effective road cycling, including advanced race-day preparation methods. Additionally, it offers guidance for overcoming setbacks—because every rider occasionally misses a session or faces unexpected obstacles.
You can purchase the Kindle version on Amazon from January 2nd. It is also possible to read the book via Kindle Unlimited.
